- <p> EXECUTED. TIMOTHY SPENCER, 32, convicted through genetic fingerprinting
- of the rape and murder of four women in 1987; by electric chair;
- in Jarratt, Virginia. Spencer was the first person executed
- in the U.S. for a conviction obtained using DNA testing, although
- none of the victims survived to testify and no fingerprints
- were discovered, DNA samples from Spencer's blood matched semen
- found at the crime scenes.
